Administrative Team

Kim Stout

Office Manager

Kim Stout has been with Small Steps since December of 2013. Kim has helped to build the structure and supportive feel of our agency. She studied Business Management and is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). Her role is ever expanding but most of her efforts are in executing agency protocols, federal, state, insurance, and HIPAA compliance and supporting our staff. Kim works alongside the supervisory team to ensure the needs of our clients are addressed both clinically and administratively.

Kim is passionate about the work she does and the team she gets to work alongside. You will usually find her spending her free time with her loved ones.

Julie Pierce

Intake Client Coordinator

Julie Pierce, our intake coordinator, has been working for SSCC since March of 2015 and will typically be your first point of contact when calling our agency, as well as the first face you see when walking through our doors. Julie will kindly and efficiently guide you through our services to offer assistance in the best way possible to get you and your family the support they need.

Julie has been a mentor for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for 2 years where she is privileged to invest in our local youth and build relationships with members of our community. She has also taken several courses through The Center for Action and Contemplation regarding mindfulness contemplation and humanitarian issues.

Julie also volunteers at a local hospice house where she collects stories of the elderly in our community in hopes of one day publishing a book of local Albuquerque natives and the stories of their lives.

Julie takes great pride in helping our clients step into our process of guidance and support and does so with joy and compassion. Call us today!

Katie Riley

Billing Specialist

Katie Riley, Small Steps Billing Specialist, has been with us since January of 2015. She obtained her certificate in billing and coding in 2014 and stays up to date with the ever-changing codes and protocols for medical billing. Katie’s time is mostly spent behind the scenes processing claims, reviewing aging and advocating for our clients when denials come our way. It takes a special person to be a liaison for our agency and our clients when dealing with insurance companies.  Katie does this with great efficiency and follow through. She is on the phone with provider reps continuously ensuring everyone receives the most accurate information, as well as minimize miscommunication and keep important data from being missed or filed. She may also be a point of contact for clients who have more complex coverage needing further understanding of what their insurance provider does and does not cover.

Katie works remotely in Jemez Springs NM where she was born and raised. When Katie is not working you can find her with her girls, or family. She loves the outdoors and hiking.

Lorrie DeLoach

Lorrie is Small Steps money master and resident ninja.
She keeps the books. You’ll never see her or talk to her, but I’m sure you’ll feel better knowing she’s lurking behind the scenes.

Ariana Monte Ricken

Insurance Verification and Credentialing

Ariana Ricken, the newest member of the Small Steps admin team, is ready to dive in and assist in getting clients the exact information they need regarding their benefits. We want to make sure everything is up to date so our clinicians can see their patients without any hiccups behind the scenes or with the verification process.

Ariana is very organized and detail-oriented so she’s able to keep track of the many appointments we have from day to day. She hopes to alleviate the load from some of her coworkers by staying ahead and on top of weekly tasks, as well as assisting our billing department on what patient details are. Clinicians & therapists can also expect that she will be a part of handling their credentialing.

Ariana graduated with a major in Music and minored in Psychology. She enjoyed studying the connection of music with healing and how it can be used in many forms of therapy, especially with children. After university she lived abroad in Taiwan for 3 years studying mandarin and teaching English & music classes to students of all ages. She’s a native of Albuquerque and is very involved in the community. She’s a strong believer in wholistic health and is especially gifted in activating that vision within a team dynamic. Traveling to experience new cultures & try new foods, creating music, and spending time with friends & family around the table are definitely in her top favorites of things to do!
